2016 Bayanihan Cup Tournament Recap

bayanihancup

This June 2016 mark’s the 5th tourney of the annual Bayanihan Cup brought to us by the ABS-CBN Foundation International and hosted by Mango Tours. It is an event that pits different golfers against one another all while raising funds for a good cause. 90% of the funds went to the Bantay Bata (Child Watch) Foundation where it will be used to help children awaiting heart surgery.

Around 300 participants, including guests and volunteers, were present at the event with 242 golfers bringing their A game onto the field. It was truly a test of skill as the players teed off and showed the best of their ability on the greens.

Two golf courses were chosen as the selected battlefield for the players to go all out: Shadow lakes and Deer Ridge. The well-maintained and challenging courses were the perfect setting to gauge the player's’ mettle and expertise of the game. Of course, what is a contest without fabulous prizes? Two brand new Toyota Camry’s were up for grabs to anyone who could manage to get a hole in one and of course the coveted trophies were ready to be owned by the best golfer in the event. It was a great show of sportsmanship and at the end of the day, North gate from Vallejo and the Fil-Am Golf Association walked away with the prized awards as the best of the best.

But it wasn’t all clubs and competition all day either. More than 150 items were given away in a fun little raffle draw while roundtrip business class tickets from Philippine Airlines to the Philippines were auctioned at $2,800 each. Special guests also appeared to give their support to the event, including the Simply Magic Band, Katrina Dimaranana, the Bb Pilipinas Tourism of 2012 and Princess Ryan, Kapamilya dancer and actress.

Once the day was over, the total net proceeds resulted in $28,000. This exceeds last year’s amount of $10,000, making the event a huge success! If you’re an avid golfer who wants to make a little child’s day, look out for next year’s Bayanihan Cup Tournament to test your skills for a good cause.
