A Successful ASEAN 2017 Summit
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations 2017 (ASEAN) Summit was held in the Philippines last month.
Lasting from April 26 to April 29, a total of 4 days, many southeast asian leaders came together to discuss important subjects concerning economics, social progress, and cultural development. This event aims to bring the Southeast Asian countries closer together and establish deeper connections between themselves.
This event was so big, some of the Philippine roads Around the CCP area, the location of the summit, were closed and both work and classes were suspended during the 28th. Representatives from all over the region appeared during this time:
Joko Widodo, the President of Indonesia
Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of Cambodia
Prayut Chan-o-cha, the Prime Minister of Thailand
Lee Hsien Loong, the Prime Minister of Singapore Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the Prime Minister of Vietnam Najib Razak, the Prime Minister of Malaysia Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei Thoungloun Sisoluith, Prime Minister of Laos Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor and Foreign Minister of Myanmar
All of them came together in the Philippines, during those 4 days to connect with their fellow leaders. Alliances were established. Friendships were forged. Subjects were discussed. The entire event went without a hitch, lacking any atmosphere of aggressiveness or hostility. It definitely was a successful and fruitful ASEAN summit for the new year.
