Mango Mix: Game Set: Pacquiao vs. Mayweather
One of the biggest boxing highlights for 2015, the recently resurrected Pacquiao vs. Mayweather Jr. fight has been one of the biggest milestones in Manny’s career. With a record of 55 wins (38 of those being knockouts) to 5 losses, Pacquiao is definitely no slouch when it comes to taking and giving the punches inside the ring. But equally impressive is Mayweather’s record of 43 wins (26 of them being KO’s) to 0 losses in his entire professional career. No one can say for certain who’s the sure victor in the statistics alone, but we are all at the edge of our seats to finally see how this long awaited fight will play out on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao may have had a bit of a shake in his career lately, but his recent fights have shown us he’s still going strong. Powering on with great dedication, Manny knows he carries the hopes and wishes from all his fans and the Filipino people as well. From his training to his appearances, Manny tries his best as upstanding sportsman and a Filipino citizen to show the world what a proud and indomitable people they are. With a great pre-sparring run and willingness to show that he is clean of any performance enhancing drugs, he makes it known that he’s ready to fight the natural and fair way.
There have been comments by his coach, Freddie Roach, that Manny has been too ‘gentlemanly’ inside the ring, which seems to be affecting his ability to fight aggressively. But despite this, people believe that Manny fighting even more aggressively in the ring might make him sloppy in a fight. This attitude not only shows that Manny is a compassionate and respectful fighter, but also tells the people he is focused and calculating in the ring. Many times have viewers seen his masterful blocks and his killer left hand punch, which has accurately downed many of his opponents before, in action.
Whether he changes his fighting style or not, Manny Pacquiao will always have a place in the hearts of his countrymen and the people could not be any more proud of the strong and passionate fighter that he is today. Truly the people’s hero, all Filipino’s await the day this titanic battle will get underway so that we can see just how much Manny can take and give from this formidable opponent in his fight for glory.
