Manny Pacquiao Did It Again!

Manny "PacMan" Pacquiao went back to the boxing stage for the first time after being elected as a Philippine senator and faced Jessie Vargas, winning the WBO Welterweight title via unanimous decision at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on November 6, 2016.

Pacquiao won 114-113 on one judge’s scorecard, and by a runaway margin of 118-109 on the other two. He landed 147 of a total 409 punches at a rate of 36%. Although Vargas only landed 19% of his punches, he was no easy opponent to PacMan. It was the Philippine Champion's speed and punch angles that knocked Vargas off the title.

Jessie Vargas, 27, is an American professional boxer who's a former two-weight world champion. He held the WBA and IBO super lightweight titles in 2014, and the WBO welterweight title in 2016.

Before the fight, the crowned Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach was seen on the stage showing full support to the Pambansang Kamao.

Many doubted that Manny's strength to fight would be up to par since he has been spending most of his time doing his political duties as a senator in the Philippines. But he reminded everybody that he was still one of the greatest boxing champions of the world by giving a good fight and showcasing his speed and power.

Floyd Mayweather, Pacquiao's greatest opponent was seen sitting on the ringside minutes before the fight. Asked about the possible Pacquiao-Mayweather rematch, Manny mentioned that fighting Floyd for the second time will never be a problem for him. He said he'd fight anyone his promoter would give him.

Cheers for the win, senator Manny!
