Overview
On this exciting island journey, enjoy journeying across this island region’s historical and cultural roots to really get a feel of this part of the Philippines. This area of the Philippine archipelago is the second most densely populated area, meaning there is so much to see and do for the inquisitive travelers who will be touring both Cebu and Mactan. There will also be trips to a couple of Cebu’s most popular attractions - the whale shark encounters in Oslob and the cooling pool of Kawasan Falls.

  • Basilica del Santo Niño- The oldest church in the Philippines, dating back to 1565 and renovated 3 times into the synagouge that it is today.
  • Magellan’s Cross- An old cross first planted by Magellan on his arrival in 1521. It still stands today and is a well-known as a tourist spot.
  • The Taoist Temple- A oriental-styled temple that was built by the resident Chinese community in the past.
  • Mactan Shrine- A 66-ft bronze statue that depicts the hero Lapu-Lapu and commemorates the historic Battle of Mactan.
  • Kawasan Falls- A beautiful blue pool of water with its namesake waterfall gushing a forceful yet relaxing stream of water.

Local Eats

  • Cebu Lechon- Among the many Philippine islands, tourists and locals alike agree that Cebu serves the best of the succulent pork dish.
  • Danggit- salted and sun-dried rabbit fish which are abundant and well-loved in the region.
  • Dried mangoes- No region does dried mangoes better than Cebu, making it one of the best pasalubongs to take home.
  • Otap- a flaky and brittle pastry that is sweetly sprinkled with sugar. Perfect with a nice drink for an afternoon snack.
  • Rosquillos- Created by Margarita “Titay” T. Frasco in Cebu, these doughnut-like cookies with the recognizable scalloped edges are the another great snack time item.
